PILL-BOX

This recovery was a bit of a challenge. First challenging thing was to get off those damn pain meds!! I learned the hard way- pain meds lead to nausea meds which lead to constipation meds. During the first two weeks of recovery I was taking 2 oxycodones every three hours. I wasn’t always in pain, but I constantly took them to prevent feeling any pain at all. Once I started realizing that in order to get back to a normal life, I had to get off all the meds. Plus, it blurred my vision not to mention I couldn’t drive or be on my feet for too long without feeling uncomfortable. I figured I’ll just stop taking the pain meds, but I was so wrong. Not an easy task! I started having anxiety and headaches, I was having a hard time going to sleep. This had never happened to me before and so I realized that I was having withdrawals. It took a lot of discipline on my part, but I slowly but surely weened myself off of them. I went from taking 12 a day to about 2-3 a day to zilch!

I’ve been off my meds for 2 weeks before going back to work. I feel pain here and there, but they never last long enough for me to start taking the meds again. I’m at a good point right now…I’m driving, I’m healthy, and I’m able to get back to a normal life!

But sneezing is still by far a pain in the ass!
