If you haven’t heard of the Palace of Versailles, it’s an incredible Palace (now museum) that was built by Louis XIV, the king of France from 1643 – 1715. If you’re thinking about visiting The Palace of Versailles, you 100% should.
Just an hour train ride from Paris, it’s one of the most beautiful examples of architecture from the 1600’s, and it’s definitely a great way to spend a day.
We came on a cold, windy afternoon. The lines were insanely loooong and we had no desire to queue it up. So we opted to skip going inside the Palace and head straight to the garden – which I hear is where the real fun is.
As we made our way to the garden, I did not realize the sheer vastness of the property and how expansive the gardens alone are. WOW!
Since we had a baby on hand and my mom, it would have probably taken us FOREVER to tour the gardens – luckily we saw that they rent out go-karts!! Seriously…life savers…RENT THE GO-KARTS it was the best 35 Euros we ever spent!!!
If you haven’t been to The Palace of Versailles, you really should go next time you’re in France. To say it’s breathtaking is an understatement. You really can’t even begin to understand how gorgeous everything is until you get there and see the sheer scale and opulence and attention to art and detail. It’s one of the most stunning places I’ve ever been and I’m really bummed that I didn’t get to go into the Palace. Next time for sure!
