DECEPTION PASS & WHIDBEY ISLAND DAY TRIP

Rain, wind, and more rain is the best way to describe winter days in the Pacific Northwest. Our day trip to Deception Pass was just that…a typical Pacific Northwest winter day with a bit of sunshine!

We started our adventure in Mukiteo (about 30 minutes north of Seattle) and caught the short ferry across the water to Clinton on Whidbey Island.

Avery and my mom are first time ferry riders and boy was it a bit windy out on the deck.

We drove around Whidbey Island before making a stop in Coupeville for lunch at Front Street Grill. We ordered the Spiced Scallop Salad and Dan’s Spicy Seafood Pasta…..mmmmm…both delish!

After lunch we headed straight to Deception Pass State Park. This is another one of my favorite state parks. Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from the mainland, with a two-lane bridge going across. It’s a really cool bridge and a scary one at that. At 188 feet above the water and only the two lanes, it’s creepy to drive across and even worse to walk on. Lucky for us, Avery was asleep so it was just me and my mom exploring for a bit before making the hour and a half drive back to Seattle! Can’t wait to go back in the summer!
