The Dole Food Company is the world’s largest producer of fruit and vegetable.
Mr James Dole opened the first pineapple plantation on the island of Oahu in 1901. Nowadays, the iconic Dole logo has become synonymous of pineapples worldwide.
Once we arrived to the plantation, we headed straight for The Pineapple Express tour. We waited for an hour and I was pleasantly surprised how patient and good Avery was during the wait!
The vintage-style trains is approximately 20 minutes long, and it took us through the pineapple fields as we listened to a narrated story of James Dole and the pineapple industry. Not only did we see lots of pineapples, but we saw the equipment used to harvest pineapples, as well as other products grown at Dole Plantation, such as ti leaf, bananas, and sugar cane.
After 5 minutes of the ride, Avery was asleep!
Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a little refreshment the DoleWhip! A delicious frozen pineapple treat! You don’t want to miss it!!
Definitely a ‘fine’ apple day!
