I absolutely LOVE to see a city from a birds eye view. So it was no question that I had to see the Tokyo Tower while visiting Tokyo.
The Tower is 1,092 feet tall, which is just a couple hundred feet shorter than the Empire State Building! Tokyo Tower is a self-supporting, steel lattice tower that was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the second tallest structure in Japan. There are actually two observation decks on the tower, one at 150 meters and one at 250 meters! We choose the 250 meters so we can experience the full view of Tokyo above!
There is windows going around the deck almost 360 degrees. And every where I looked all I saw was BUILDINGS! Each section of large windows is complete with a small diagram to show you what historic buildings you can see in the distance.
All in all, we had a splendid time, but if you’re only in Tokyo for a short visit, I would say there are plenty more places and things to do that are more worth your time. But if you’re looking for a way to see the city and how immense it is, the tower is the perfect place to go.
